A saját maga válogatta művek állandó bemutatására az óbudai barokk Zichy kastély egyik szárnyépülete került átalakításra. A múzeum 1987-ben nyitotta meg kapuit, az egyik leggazdagabb Vasarely gyűjtemény Közép-Kelet Európában.
